Sustainability & responsibility
What we are doing, what we are working on, and what we are not going to pretend about.
Honest about where we stand
Neva is a new brand and it would be easy to write a page full of green promises. Instead, here is the position as it actually is: what is in place now, and what is being worked on for the next production cycles.
In place now
A disposal wrapper included with every pad, so used pads are wrapped and binned rather than flushed or left exposed.
In place now
Outer cartons made from recyclable board, with printing kept minimal to make recycling easier at the retail end.
Being worked on
Reducing plastic content in the back sheet and wrapper across future production runs, without losing leak protection.
Being worked on
Publishing a plain-language material breakdown for each Neva pad, so buyers can see exactly what they are using.
The most useful thing a brand can do is explain disposal
A sanitary pad is not flushable. Flushed pads block household drains and municipal lines, and they make the work of sanitation staff harder and more hazardous.
- Wrap the used pad in the disposal wrapper from the new pad’s pouch.
- Put it in a covered dry-waste bin, not an open one.
- Never flush a pad, and never put one down an open drain.
- Wash your hands afterwards, every time.
Access matters too
Responsibility in this category is not only environmental. A pad that a girl cannot afford is not protecting anyone.
Joyce Lifecare intends to keep Neva priced within reach of ordinary households, and to support school and community distribution programmes where they exist. If you run one, we would like to hear from you.
Tell us about your programmeWe would rather publish a short, true page than a long one full of claims we cannot stand behind. This page will get longer as the work gets done.
